Services
International Tax Accountant in Weston, FL.

Moving to South Florida from another country brings U.S. tax rules you may never have dealt with before. Accountit, CPA helps foreign nationals in Weston and across South Florida, including many families and business owners from South America and Europe, file correctly in the U.S. while keeping their income, accounts and property abroad. We work with clients in English and Spanish.
The first question is usually your residency status. The U.S. taxes residents on their worldwide income, while nonresidents generally pay U.S. tax only on U.S.-source income. We work out which one applies to you under the green card test and the substantial presence test, check whether a tax treaty changes the answer, and then prepare the right return.
International Tax Services for Foreign Nationals.
- U.S. residency status: Whether you’re a U.S. tax resident for the year, including dual-status years when you arrive or leave.
- Form 1040-NR returns: U.S. returns for nonresidents with U.S. income, such as rent, business income or wages.
- FBAR and FATCA: Reporting foreign bank accounts on FinCEN Form 114 (FBAR) when their combined balance goes over $10,000 at any time during the year, and foreign assets on Form 8938 when you meet the thresholds. The penalties for missing these are steep.
- Foreign tax credits: Claiming credit for income tax you paid abroad, so the same income isn’t taxed twice.
- ITIN applications: Applying for an Individual Taxpayer Identification Number (Form W-7) for you, your spouse or dependents who can’t get a Social Security number.
- Tax treaty benefits: Using the tax treaty between the U.S. and your home country, where one exists, to reduce tax on pensions, dividends, interest and other income.
- Pre-immigration planning: Planning before you become a U.S. resident, such as the timing of asset sales, so you don’t pay U.S. tax on gains that built up before you moved.
- U.S. real estate and FIRPTA: Returns for rental income on U.S. property, and FIRPTA withholding when you sell (generally 15% of the sale price), including applying for reduced withholding when it applies.
